Chungju National Heritage Night Walk

The 2026 Chungju National Heritage Night Walk is a three-day event held from September 4 to September 6, 2026, at the Gwana Park area in Chungju (21 Gwana 1-gil, Chungju). It was designed to convey the historical value of Chungju by reinterpreting the status of the former Jungwon-gyeong and the symbolism of the Chungcheong Gamyeong during the Joseon Dynasty in connection with cultural heritage sites such as Cheongnyeongheon and Jegumdang in Gwana Park, and to revitalize the local economy of the old downtown area. The festival is richly composed of eight nighttime themes (8ya): night views (yagyeong), night paths (yaro), night history (yasa), night paintings (yahwa), night tales (yaseol), night food (yasik), night lodging (yasuk), and night market (yasi). Amid the night scenery of Gwana Park bathed in moonlight, historical street tours and various cultural heritage experience activities unfold, with meetings with artisans and madanggeuk performances and traditional shows based on historical figures and folk tales held throughout the venue. In addition, a food zone recreating the old marketplace, a flea market featuring local craft artists, and programs linked with accommodations and commercial districts in the area come together to offer visitors the charm of Jungwon culture and a unique delight of nighttime tourism.
