Goesan Chili Pepper Festival

The Goesan Chili Pepper Festival is a flagship agricultural-specialty festival held in Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, each year between late August and early September — a participatory event that blends agriculture, tourism, and culture around the region's signature Goesan Clean Chili Pepper.

The festival's main aim is to spread the word about the excellence of Goesan chili peppers — grown organically in a clean natural environment — and to revitalize farm income and the local economy through direct-trade markets and specialty sales.

Signature hands-on programs such as "Find the Golden Chili Pepper" and "Stress-Relief Chili Nanta," along with chili bibimbap tasting, a spicy-food contest, traditional games, and performances, make for a lineup that all ages can enjoy, drawing large crowds every year. A World Chili Exhibition and chili appraisal also introduce diverse domestic and international varieties and know-how, adding educational and professional value.

The festival has been selected as a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Promising Culture & Tourism Festival and a Chungcheongbuk-do flagship festival, simultaneously strengthening Goesan's nature, agriculture, and culture brand.
