Goesan Chili Pepper Festival

The Goesan Chili Pepper Festival is a flagship agricultural specialty festival held in Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, each year between late August and early September, a participatory festival combining agriculture, tourism, and culture around the region's signature clean Goesan chili pepper. The festival's chief purpose is to publicize the excellence of Goesan peppers, grown organically in a pristine natural environment, and to energize farm household incomes and the local economy through direct-trade markets and specialty product sales. With signature hands-on programs such as 'Find the Golden Pepper' and 'Stress-Relief Pepper Nanta,' along with chili pepper bibimbap tasting, a spicy food contest, traditional games, and performances, its program for all ages draws a large crowd every year. A world chili pepper exhibition and a pepper quality competition add educational and expert value by introducing diverse pepper varieties and information from home and abroad. With a history of selection as a Culture and Tourism Promising Festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and as a representative festival of Chungcheongbuk-do, it is a leading regional festival that strengthens Goesan's nature, agriculture, and culture brands at once.
