About this event
The 28th Jeongdong Culture Festival, hosted by the Kyunghyang Shinmun, takes place on October 16 and 17 around Jeongdong-gil in Jung-gu, Seoul. Stretching from the Kyunghyang Shinmun to the Seoul Museum of Art and on to Deoksugung Palace's Daehanmun Gate, Jeongdong-gil was the center of diplomacy, culture, and education in the Korean Empire era, a space where long history and new culture have long coexisted. Under the new concept 'Neo-Jeongdong: Pan,' this year's festival reinterprets the history and traditions of Jeongdong for the present day. Over the two days, Jeongdong-gil hosts a street parade that reimagines traditional performing arts, along with performances by contemporary artists rooted in Korean traditional music. Space design using rice straw and food-and-beverage programs complete the scene, dressing all of Jeongdong-gil as one grand new 'pan,' or stage.
