Gijang Eupseong Festival

「The 2026 Gijang Eupseong Festival」 is a culture-and-tourism hands-on festival held from October 9 to 11 on the lawn in front of the Gijang Modern History Museum and throughout the museum grounds. Set against the town's historic and cultural spaces such as Gijang Eupseong (town fortress) and the Modern History Museum, the event brings together performances, reading, film, hands-on activities, and guided commentary programs. Headline programs include the Eumseong Music Play Bar, a book concert, the Neighborhood BIFF film screenings, traditional performing arts shows, challenge dance, the Pungnyu Pado performance, reading clubs, and a pet Reels video festival. Inside the Gijang Modern History Museum, visitors can join pop-up workshop experiences, 'Slowness and Rest' healing sessions, and docent walking tours of Gijang Eupseong. Throughout the festival period, standing experience programs also run, including the Gijang Aekmaki Lab, a pet rock adoption center, the Eumseong goods shop, and the Eumseong play zone. Rather than limiting the area's historical and cultural resources to performance- and exhibition-centered viewing, the Gijang Eupseong Festival is built from programs that visitors can join and experience firsthand.
