Ureuk Cultural Festival

Begun as the Ureuk Arts Festival in 1971, the Ureuk Cultural Festival is a leading culture and arts festival that carries on the artistic spirit of Ureuk, the sage of music, in song, dance, and instrumental music, and brings together the culture and arts of Chungju. Under the slogan 'Holding tomorrow's Chungju in the resonance of Ureuk,' the 54th festival runs on a newtro concept that reinterprets the culture and sensibility of the 1980s and '90s for today. Performances and arts competitions where tradition and contemporary art meet, diverse exhibitions and hands-on programs, and participatory programs joining teenagers, young adults, citizens, and local artists all await. On the festival grounds visitors can see and try the work of local young artists and creators, and a marketplace serves Chungju farm specialties and local food. The 54th Ureuk Cultural Festival, where the culture of the past and the art of the present flow together, runs October 8-11, 2026 across Tangeum Park and the Chungju Culture Hall.
