Quad, Questions of Theater: Why the Rooftop Garden Peppers

An old, run-down multi-family house on the edge of Seoul, where neighbors with their own stories and unmet needs live side by side. On one blazing summer day, in the small rooftop patch where 'Gwangja,' an elderly woman, has been quietly growing peppers, every single pepper vanishes.

The one who made off with the entire crop is none other than 'Hyeonja,' a neighbor from the same building. The neighbors each have something to say about it, but to 'Hyeontae' in unit 301 this 'pepper theft' looks like anything but a trivial matter - it is bound up with a world going wrong. His words unsettle his family and everyone else in the building, yet one person alone, 'Donggyo' in unit 303, begins to help him act, for reasons no one can fathom. The neighbors' wrangling that began over those very peppers starts to swell into an enormous commotion engulfing the whole building.
