On a train racing toward the Mount Li mausoleum in Xi'an, China, Sanggon is filled with anticipation for the underground palace of Qin Shi Huang and the countless terracotta warriors about to open before his eyes. As he recalls the figure of Qin Shi Huang, who within a finite life lusted for eternity, and the things Sanggon himself never once fully had in his own life, the train pulls into Xi'an. A Korean man with a Chinese mother; a man whose love was never once fully requited. What is the desire of Sanggon's life as he stands before Qin Shi Huang's craving for immortality? Sanggon, who has lived his whole life on the 'margins,' sees himself as he stands before the greatest of stories. Only now, before that immense desire, does he finally look into his own story.
