Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival

The Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival has been held since 2000 to promote the excellence of Masan chrysanthemums and encourage their consumption, and it is Changwon's representative autumn festival. In 1961, six farm households in the Hoewon-dong area began Korea's first commercial cultivation of chrysanthemums, and in 1972 the region became the first in the country to export chrysanthemums to Japan. The festival is a place to encounter the history of Masan's chrysanthemum industry, built on a mild climate and cultivation expertise, and a wide variety of chrysanthemum works. The 26th Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival takes place at 3.15 Haeyangnuri Park, Happo Waterside Park, and the wider Haeyang New Town area. Centered on chrysanthemum exhibitions, the program ranges from a multimedia fireworks show and fireworks cascading over the sea to a chrysanthemum song festival. An indie music festa and cultural performances by local artists join a chrysanthemum bonsai exhibition, chrysanthemum dance cheerleading, and hands-on programs, so visitors can enjoy chrysanthemum works, performances, and food together against the backdrop of the sea.
