About this event
The 2026 Gwangju Food Week is a gourmet festival that connects the rich food culture and local culinary resources of Gwangju, Jeollanam-do into vivid travel content. Ingredients and food, people and places, and culture join into a single thread, letting you experience Gwangju's one-of-a-kind culinary ecosystem in depth. It brings together in one place the masters and artisans who have preserved the region's flavors over many years, young chefs reinterpreting traditional tastes with a modern sensibility, and food activists who weigh ecological value. Beyond simply tasting food, it offers a special journey in which ingredients become dishes and then expand into the stories of the region.
The festival raises its curtain with an opening ceremony at Ogaheon, a tranquil hanok.
For just ten days, from October 2 to October 11, the Gwangju Food Week 'Discount Week' teams up with Blue Ribbon Survey, Korea's leading restaurant guide, to offer visits to vetted restaurants and special perks. In addition, 'Yangnim Spoon Week' runs in the Yangnim-dong area, where history and culture breathe, spotlighting food spaces there and introducing Gwangju's outstanding food venues to residents and visitors alike.
Its sustainable-food events include 'See, Taste, and Learn Fine Food,' which explores the many values of food culture and fresh approaches from multiple angles, and 'See, Taste, and Learn: A Vegan Food Journey,' which delves into eco-friendly food culture carrying environmental and ecological values.
Throughout the festival, a promotional booth spreads the appeal of Food Week at the Asia Culture Week event of the National Asian Culture Center, and easy-to-join online events run alongside it, raising the festival's heat another notch.
