Korean Dream Hangang Grand Festival

The Korean Dream Hangang Grand Festival is a large-scale, citizen-participatory unification cultural event held on the Han River in Seoul. Rather than framing unification as an ideological debate, the festival approaches it through art and culture, planned so that citizens can join in and experience it directly. Content spans many genres including booth activities, music, performances, and a fireworks show, centered on emotionally resonant and creative programs that younger and older generations can enjoy together. The organizing committee aims to make the event a turning point for a citizen-led unification movement rather than a one-off occasion. Since 2015 it has taken place at various venues including Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium, the National Assembly lawn, and Imjingak, and since its launch under the name Korean Dream Hangang Grand Festival on August 15, 2025, this year marks its second consecutive edition on the Han River, with plans to develop it into a cultural platform that spreads shared understanding among the Korean public. The festival is structured so that citizens take part as protagonists rather than mere spectators, with an emphasis on delivering the message of unification as moving moments in everyday life.
