Heo Jun Festival

The Heo Jun Festival takes place every year in the second week of October in Gangseo District, Seoul, where Heo Jun was born and wrote the Dongui Bogam, in honor of his compassion for the people and of the greatest medical encyclopedia of the East, «Dongui Bogam». First held in 1999 around Heogabawi Rock, where the «Dongui Bogam» was written, the festival moved to the Seoul Botanic Park in 2023 with a renewed concept rooted in its identity and a broader program, so that more people could get to know Heo Jun and Gangseo and everyone could enjoy the festival safely. As Gangseo's flagship medical and health culture festival, it offers a medical and health experience center run together with local medical institutions, a special exhibition on Heo Jun and the «Dongui Bogam», the Heo Jun concert and recital, the Heo Jun parade, and the Heo Jun kids contest, among a rich program of cultural events.
