The 2026 Ulsan Outdoor Library Sopung is an outdoor reading event where people read books while looking out at the sea. Hosted by Ulsan Metropolitan City, it takes place around Seuldo Art on Seuldo in Bangeo-dong, Dong-gu, Ulsan. The name Sopung, meaning picnic, plays on Seuldok, short for wise reading at Seuldo.
The event runs from September 19 to October 18, 2026, operating for ten sessions on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The program is made up of busking performances, book talks, DJ sets, pan flute performances, readings, starlight docent tours, and outdoor film screenings.
Authors Choi Young-sil, Kim Cho-yeop, Ko Eun-hee, Yozo, and Kim Su-bin join the book talk programs. Screened films include 〈Little Forest〉, 〈My Puppy〉, 〈Kiki's Delivery Service〉, 〈Ponyo〉, and 〈Sing〉. Live outdoor performances feature artists including Gongnyong Yunyul, Purple Pizza, Yeoreumbanghak, Shin Band, Lee Young-ah, Lee Ki-hyuk, Gil Ki-pan and Kim Byung-jun, and Lee Ha-sil and Lee Jong-min, along with the S2 Magic magic performance team.
Program schedules and performers are subject to change depending on site conditions and circumstances. The event provides Ulsan residents and visitors with a weekend outdoor cultural space and an environment for enjoying reading.
