Seongbuk Chaekmokkoji Book Festival

The Seongbuk Chaekmokkoji Book Festival is Seongbuk-gu's flagship joint reading-culture festival, built together by the Seongbuk Public Library network and local residents. In 2026, under the theme 'Library Network ON, Lighting Up Seongbuk', the festival widens its stage to the banks of Seongbuk Stream, unfolding on a grander scale along Barammadang Bridge in front of the Seongbuk-gu Office and the stream's waterway. Eighteen teams in all — from the thirteen libraries of the Seongbuk Public Library network to university library and information science departments and reading-culture organizations — run experience booths each with their own color, while at the outdoor library spread along Seongbuk Stream you can savor the leisure of a good book under the autumn sun. At 3 p.m. on the streamside stage, busking by Korea University ATP and Namgung Matsuko of the Korea National University of Arts lifts the mood, and from 6:30 p.m. an opening by a children's choir leads into celebration performances by a folk ensemble and Voice Toy. On top of all this, there is plenty for the whole family: a children's playground dressed up with an air bounce and a coloring wall, a Seongbuk Public Library participation exhibition, a four-cut-photo zone, a stamp rally around the booths, and food trucks. Admission is free, and as there is no separate parking lot, please use public transportation.
