Pohang Chimaek Festival

The Pohang Chimaek Festival is a summer festival held around the Yeongilmanru pavilion at Yeongildae, Pohang's flagship tourist asset. Aiming to energize the local economy and attract tourists, it runs as a participatory cultural festival that every age group can join. The festival takes place over two days, August 21 and 22, 2026, operating diverse content: a commemorative ceremony, invited performances, citizen-participation shows, an EDM party, singing contests and experience programs. The venue centers on chicken and beer sales zones alongside a water experience zone, an art experience zone and an event zone, offering stay-a-while tourism content that links food, performance, experience and marine tourism. Participatory programs — Chimaek Star K, the Chimaek King contest and the receipt lucky draw — widen on-site participation by citizens and tourists. Through its evening performances and EDM programs, the festival seeks to enliven nighttime tourism at Yeongildae and expand Pohang's summer tourism content, raising the city's tourism competitiveness and brand value. It aims to grow into Pohang's flagship summer tourism festival, contributing to the vitality of the local commercial district and the tourism industry.
