Welcome to Singwan-dong

"Welcome to Singwan-dong" is a youth-culture street festival held around Daehak-ro in Singwan-dong, Gongju. As part of the Cultural City initiative driven by Gongju City and the Gongju Culture & Tourism Foundation, it aims to nurture Singwan-dong into a youth culture hub and revitalize the local cultural ecosystem and commercial districts. The festival has been held since 2022 as a street-performance-centered event, gradually expanding its content to include busking competitions, street performances, a beer festa, flea markets, and hands-on programs. In 2025 it built the "Welcome to Singwan-dong" brand through street signposts, sculptural installations, and navigation-service markings, and in 2026 it aims to establish a sustainable festival model based on a collaborative operating system in which residents, merchants, universities, and youth all take part. The 2026 festival will be held from October 9 to 11 around Daehak-ro in Singwan-dong, featuring main performances, nationwide street performances, performances by local youth and young artists, programs linked to the local commercial district, and local-currency coupon events. It will also be linked with the Baekje Cultural Festival to encourage longer stays and revitalize the culture and economy of the Singwan-dong area as a leading regional street festival.
